Powerful Women in Armenia

Since early on of its establishment, Birthright Armenia has helped young Armenians from around the world find meaningful ways to stay engaged in Armenia and Artsakh be it involvement in diverse projects, creating innovative small businesses, or philanthropic initiatives that add long-term value. We have so many inspiring stories to tell, but today, we're highlighting just a few projects led by our in-country alumni and current volunteers across the business, non-profit and governmental sectors. We celebrate their contributions today and every day!

We're proud to share that our alumni continuously commit to Armenia's development in the country. Zarui Karapetyan (Russia, 2018) decided to open a bakery in Gyumri to introduce international food to Gyumretsis. Currently, Nazuk Bakery is one of our jobsites and hosts current Birthright volunteers. And then there is Narine Bolachian (Lebanon, 2018), founder of Khachkar, an organization where local youth and volunteers roll up their sleeves and learn hands-on the process of sculpting Armenian cross-stones. Since serving as volunteers in 2013, both Gohar Shahinyan (USA) and Aimee Keushgerian (USA) have launched successful businesses in Armenia. Gohar started her business of Armenian wines Galar Vines to promote Armenian wine-making and Aimee started her own line of Zulal wines.

And what about our current volunteers? They left everything behind to make an impact in Armenia. Ruzan Khachatryan (Belgium) is working at the Ministry of Justice in the collection of high-quality witness testimonies from those deeply impacted by the Artsakh wars to be used for cases at international courts. There is also Marina Torossian (Argentina) who is volunteering at Homeland Development Initiative Foundation to foster entrepreneurship among Armenian women.

We could find hundreds of examples like these young inspiring women! You can be inspired everyday through our Social Media where we share their stories.

Or you can choose to turn your aspirations into reality by Joining us today, and we'll find a volunteering site that is customized to match your skills and interests.

Here is the Live session between our alum Patil and two currents volunteers, Ruzan and Carine.
