Depi Haykov Tebi Dun

Living within an Armenian community, immersed in its rich culture, and residing on the very soil of my homeland, my connection to Armenia has profoundly grown and deepened. As a person born and raised in the diaspora, these experiences have allowed me to consciously embrace and solidify my identity as an Armenian.

Guided by the ideals of the Depi Hayk (Birthright Armenia) program, I embarked on my journey toward realizing my dreams of one day returning to Armenia as a dentist, contributing my skills to the well-being of my country.

During this transformative period, I had the privilege of volunteering at a local dental clinic, where I assisted the dentist with various procedures. This experience was both humbling and rewarding, as I felt immense fulfillment in being able to help my fellow Armenians in the homeland. One particular moment stands out in my memory - when an elderly woman, affectionately known as “dadik,” came in for a new set of dentures with the intent of surprising her children with a beautiful new smile. Her overwhelming gratitude and the genuine joy that radiated from her face deeply touched me. It was in that moment that I truly understood the importance of this profession, not only in the technical sense but in the profound impact it has on people’s lives. I am inspired by the hope that, one day, I can return to Armenia and contribute to the smiles and confidence of many more.

In addition to my work at the clinic, I participated in several excursions that were filled with singing, dancing, and sightseeing. These moments allowed me to connect with fellow compatriots who share my love for our culture and homeland, further enriching my sense of belonging and purpose.

As I continue on this path, every experience and lesson has reinforced my commitment to becoming a dentist. This journey is not merely a professional aspiration but a deeply personal calling born from a love for my people and a desire to elevate the standard of healthcare in my homeland. With each step I take, I am dedicated to serving Armenia and making a meaningful contribution to the well-being of its people.
