What could our volunteers possibly be up to during this time? Apparently, a lot of different activities! Take a look.
With self-quarantine, our volunteers are gaining quality time with their host families. Time passes in conversation, over games of backgammon, or even with a toilet paper juggling contest. Birthright Armenia volunteer Chechu is currently in Gyumri. She spends a lot of time with her host mom in the kitchen, where aromas and flavors combine to create tasty dishes made with love.
Observing social distancing, our language classes aren't meeting face to face anymore, but that isn't stopping our dedicated volunteers from mastering the Armenian language several times per week! Of course, FaceTime screenshots aren't always pretty, but it's the perfect opportunity to work on those bucket lists to regularly practice oral and written language skills. Of course, they are also getting in their daily usage of the AYOlingo app, setting up competitions with each other on their progress through the modules.
During this time, adjustments have been made so our volunteers can continue to contribute to their job sites. Work is getting done on couches, in kitchens and on dinner tables, and even beds.
We hope everyone is using their creativity to stay entertained during this uncertain time. Sending virtual hugs your way.
